abstract volatile compounds of kumquat (fortunella margarita (lour.) swingle) leaf oil were isolated by hydrodistillation. the isolated volatiles were analyzed by gc-fid and gc/ms, which led to the identification of 106 compounds, representing 99% of the total composition. the leaf oil was characterized by being richer in sesquiterpenes than monoterpene compounds. -eudesmol (19.0%), elemol (18.8%) and -eudesmol (12.4%) were the most abundant compounds of the leaf oil. in addition, germacrene d (8.9%), -pinene (8.3%) and linalool (8.2%) were also found as secondary constituents.
