Abstract

abstract volatile compounds were isolated from fruits of siparuna thecaphora (poepp. et endl.) a. dc. by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction. compounds were identified by capillary gc/ms. one hundred and thirty compounds were identified, with the major representatives being atractylone (12.7% of the total volatiles) and curzerene (11.7% of the total volatiles). the significant amounts of neral and geranial, with their powerful lemon fragrances, contribute much to the typical fruit flavor.
