Abstract
abstract the composition of the essential oils from leaves of salvia palaefolia kunth was analyzed by gc and combined gc/ms. fifty compounds were identified which constitute more than 84% of the composition. major compounds in the oil were -caryophyllene (32.2%) and caryophyllene oxide (31.6%). key word index: salvia palaefolia lamiaceaeessential oil composition-caryophyllenecaryophyllene oxide
