Abstract
the essential oil of ajuga austro-iranica rech. f. growing wild in the fars province of iran was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gc and gc/ms. thirty-nine components representing 91.5% of the total oil were identified. the main components of the oil were trans-verbenol (7.0%), caryophyllene oxide (6.8%), 6,10,14,-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone (6.5%), myrtenol (6.3%), 1-octen-3-ol (6.2%) and -pinene (6.1%). pinene type monoterpenes were dominant by constituting 30.5% of the total oil.
