Abstract
the chemical composition of essential oil isolated from the needles of juniperus commuis l. (cupressaceae) by hydrodistillation was analyzed by capillary gc-fid and gc/ms. a total of seventy-four compounds representing 93.35% of the oil were identified, the main components from oil were -pinene (14.2%) followed by sabinene (12.4%), terpinene 4-ol (14.1%), -terpinene (5.9%), (2z,6e) farnesol (5.4%) and manoyl oxide (4.1%). the enantiomeric distribution of -pinene, sabinene, camphene, -pinene, limonene, terpinen-4-ol, borneol and myrtenol were successfully determined in essential oil of j. communis.
