Abstract
abstract for the first time, chemical composition of essential oils of tussilago farfara l. of european origin (collected in lithuania) was presented. the oils were obtained by hydrodistillation from flowers and stems and analyzed by gc and gc-ms. totally sixty-five compounds were identified, they comprised <= 83.0 % and <= 66.8 % in the flower and stem oils, respectively. the predominant fraction was of aliphatic compounds in all the samples. as the first major constituent n-tricosane (<= 22.7 %) was found in both parts of the plants. as the second main compounds were found to be n-pentacosane (<= 9.4 %), n-hexacosane (5.8 %) and n-dodecane (7.1 %). one flower oil sample was characterised by appreciable amounts of -fenchocamphorone (7.5 %). results of the research have shown variability in coltsfoot essential oil composition. t. farfara flower oils from lithuania strongly differed from the coltsfoot flower bud oils of asian origin investigated previously.
