Title variation in the essential oils constituents of two chemovariant oflantana camaral.

Abstract
essential oil content and composition of the two chemovariants of lantana camara linn. grown wild in uttrakhand, india were analyzed and compared using gas chromatography (gc-fid) and gc-mass spectrometry (gc-ms). a total of 50 constituents, representing 90.07 % and 97.90 % of the total oil compositions were identified. major constituents identified in first chemovariant were germacrene d (28.13 %), -caryophyllene (10.21 %), -selinene (8.86 %) and -cadinene (8.65 %). on the contrary, the essential oil composition of second chemovariants of l. camara was exclusively composed of (e)-nerolidol (41.40 %), -caryophyllene (12.89 %), ar-curcumene (7.77 %). comparing the compositions of both chemovariants revealed prominent difference in their terpenoid production pattern in terms of the major constituents of their essential oils as well as quantitative variations in other identified constituents.
