abstract crushed fruits of prangos bornmuelleri, endemic in turkey, were subjected to simultaneous distillation-extraction using likens-nickerson apparatus with dichloromethane. the steam volatiles were analyzed by gc/ms. fifteen compounds were identified representing 98.9% of the total components detected with germacrene d-4-ol (42.8%), -cadinol (18.5%) and -cadinene (10.9%) as major constituents. key word index: prangos bornmuelleri umbelliferaeessential oil compositiongermacrene d-4-ol-cadinol-cadinene
