abstract a water-distilled oil obtained from fresh leaves of a gastache scrophulariaefolia (lamiaceae) in 0.8% yield was analyzed by capillary gc and gc/ms. the main constituents identified were: limonene (11.4%), menthone (7.6%), isomenthone (49.7%) and (1s) (-) pulegone (19.8%). the oil was shown to exhibit a fumigant effect against the stored grain insect pest callosobruchus maculatus.
