abstract the essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation of the leaves and flowers of aeollanthus pubescens benth. were analyzed by gc and gc/ms. the leaf oil contained thymol (48.4%), thymol acetate (24.0%), p-cymene (5.3%) and -terpinene (3.7%) as the main components. thymol (68.2%), thymol acetate (10.3%), carvacrol (4.0%), p-cymene (3.8%), piperitone (2.9%) and -terpinene (2.1%) were the major constituents of the flower oil. key word index: aeollanthus pubescens lamiaceaeessential oil compositionthymolthymol acetate
